- A claim for a young man who suffered a severe head injury following jumping from a road bridge. The case involved issues relating to psychiatric illness and was against an NHS Trust Hospital. The case settled for £500,000.
- A personal injury claim for a young man arising out of a road traffic accident who suffered a severe head injury but made a relatively good recovery. There were complicated issues relating to future loss of earnings and care to consider as the young man was not in an established career at the time of the accident. The claim settled for £850,000 shortly before trial.
- A claim for a lady relating to the reinsertion of breast implants when she had an established infection following previous removal of earlier implants. The claim was against a private plastic surgeon and several other potential Defendants including private Hospitals and NHS Trust’s Hospitals. The claim settled against the private surgeon with no adverse cost orders against any other potential Defendants for £60,000.
- A fatal accident claim on behalf of a wife and granddaughter against NHS Trust for failure to provide appropriate care and treatment relating to a heart condition the deceased died from shortly after being discharged from hospital. The claim settle for £75,000 to be divided between the wife and granddaughter.
- Fatal accident claim against an NHS Trust Hospital relating to a failure to treat her perforated duodenal ulcer as a result of which the deceased died shortly after being discharged from Hospital. The claim was by the deceased’s long term partner and two children. The claim settled for £135,000 prior to trial.
- Jonathan was instructed by a husband whose wife died following negligent treatment received at NHS Trust Hospital following a Gynaecological operation. The claim was settled prior to proceedings being issued for £175,000.
- A claim in respect of a delay by an NHS Trust diagnosing multiple Myeloma that led to a delay in treatment and Palliative care being provided by 6 months. The claim settled for £15,000 together with the Defendants paying any recoverable benefits.(CRU)
- Jonathan was instructed by a man who is in hospital for over 18 months following a knee replacement operation where there was negligence relating to the management of an infection in the knee. The claim settled after court proceedings were issued for £75,000.

DICKSONS SETTLE MULTI-MILLION POUND CLAIM, FOR A YOUNG CHILD
Andrew Martin of Dicksons was instructed by a family of an 11 year old girl who had a brain injury at birth. All four of her limbs were affected. The award was a lump sum £1,750,000.00, together with annual payments for life – up to £182,000.00 pa. This would amount to around £11,000,000.00 on a full lump sum basis.
Andrew says “this sum will secure her future care needs for life. I would also like pay tribute to the sacrifices the family have made for their daughter”.
LAND MARK CASE FOR CEREBRAL PALSY IS SETTLED
Dicksons settle what is believed to be the highest Medical Negligence award ever. Dicksons were instructed by the family of a young man who had very severe Cerebral Palsy. The award was a lump sum £4,237,000.00, together with £285,000.00 pa for life. If this had been settled as a conventional Lump Sum rather than the annual payment the award would have been in the region of £14,000,000.00
Dicksons recently settled a claim for £375,000 arising out of the admitted negligence of an NHS Hospital, following the death of a young woman from a pulmonary embolism. She left her young son and partner. The claim included the care the deceased would have given to her child and partner, funeral expenses and loss of earnings.
